Sergeant Chris Delacanal
was hired by the
Henderson Police
Department as a
corrections officer in 1995
after serving four years in
the United States Air Force
Security Police.  In 1996,
Officer Delacanal
transferred to be a patrol
officer and worked
graveyard shift for six
years.  In 2003, Officer
Delacanal was transferred
to the Detective Bureau
where he investigated
property crimes, sexual
crimes, and child abuse
cases.  Officer Delacanal
was then promoted to the
rank of sergeant on July 4,
2005.

Sergeant Delacanal was
awarded the Henderson
Police Department’s Medal
of Valor in 2005.   In 2006,
Sergeant Delacanal was
the Henderson Police
Department’s Sworn
Supervisor of the Year.  

Sergeant Delacanal was
assigned to supervise the
K-9 Unit in January of 2007.  
He was partnered with a
two-year-old Belgian
Malinois named Rocky.  
Rocky is from Holland and
is a highly motivated patrol
dog that searches for
people.  Sergeant
Delacanal and Rocky were
certified as a K-9 team on
June 13, 2007.  They
located their first felony
suspect on June 15, 2007,
unsuccessfully trying to
hide under a truck.
